SMSF audit
Every self-managed super fund must be audited each year by an approved SMSF auditor before its annual return is lodged. SMSF Genius audits funds online for trustees and accountants: you upload the documents, the auditor reviews them and works through any questions with you.

Good to know
Independence
An SMSF auditor must be independent: they must not audit a fund whose financial statements their own firm prepared, unless that work was only routine and any risk to independence is reduced to an acceptable level. Ask how independence is checked for your fund.
Check the auditor
SMSF auditors are registered with ASIC. You can check an auditor’s registration on ASIC’s register.
Contraventions are reported
Auditors must report certain breaches of the super laws to the ATO.
