About SMSF

A self-managed super fund (SMSF) is a private super fund with up to six members, who are usually also its trustees. It gives you control over how your retirement savings are invested, and with that come legal responsibilities: the fund must be run only to provide retirement benefits, keep proper records and be audited every year.

Different businesses in the group look after different jobs. Wealth Mantra’s advisers help you decide whether an SMSF suits you and set its investment strategy. SMSF Genius and Business Mantra Accountants set up the fund. Business Mantra Accountants prepares the yearly accounts and tax return, and SMSF Genius provides independent SMSF audits online, for trustees and for accountants.

The audit must be independent of whoever prepares the fund’s accounts. Ask how that independence is checked for your fund before the audit begins.
